Ercol 472 Charcoal out to Bristol
The Ercol 472 Chairmaker chair is one of the finest designs from Ercol.
This went out to our customer in Bristol, & she is well pleased.
We used a fabric of her choice from Ross Fabrics, their Dundee Hopsack Thistle. Looks brilliant & the rag rug, wow!

The Ercol 442 is a delicate frame and is one of the floating back series.
Here in a mixture of two of our exclusive fabrics the Herringbone Stripe & the Mid Grey Herringbone, it looks very inviting. Like all the floating backs it is a comfy chair.

Ercol 428 Charcoal out to Birmingham
The Ercol 428 is a cute rocker for a child (I think!)
At least this one was purchased for a grandchild and is a small frame looking good in our charcoal.
This 428 has 5 back spindles and looks a lot like the 889 which is bigger and with 6 spindles.

The 403 is often called the floating back chair. On the second picture you can see the webbing on the back frame, hence "floating back".

This one is cool!
We put it on the daybed for photography, just see how much bigger it is. All the better to sleep on.
Anybody unsure re daybed & single bed, the difference at a glance is that the single bed has a much higher (bedhead) at one end, and of course it is a much wider mattress.
I've put a picture of a single bed in the pictures above. A previous customer brought it to us for a new mattress!

This Ercol Daybed + a 334 & a Rocker, all going to Belfast.
The Fryatt fabric, Balmoral Ruby looking great.
Worth a note. Most of our Ercol cushions, including the 355 Daybed are cut on a CNT machine.
Not wishing to bore our readers, this technique means that the cushions are exactly the same every time. The machine has software guided cutting. Often we use a whole block of foam for our daybeds, getting 21 mattresses from each block, all precisely the same for each and every block & for each and every mattress we cut! So for a customer who likes a change of cover, it's a doddle! Just choose a different colour or weave and give us a shout! We also have some true bargains for returning customers!

Out today, 6th June.
A customer brought his self built motor home for us to produce a made to measure double mattress. We do this quite often!
He wanted only the best foam, our Vitafoam Reflex 400. He chose the Camira Citadel Confine FL833 fabric.The mattress folds along two joining points so that the sleeping space can be used for other storage during the day. (Kite surfing gear!)
All in all a good all round job.Here's hoping he sleeps well.

This week a customer sent their own covers for the Ercol 914 chair.
All they wanted was new foam. The covers really looked like new anyway!
The 914 is not a common model. I googled it!.The back of the frame has a look of a 766.
It must be ages since we did new covers for this model, 'cos we can't remember!
You may have some good covers yourself, why not fill them with our good foam? We do any furniture makers new foam, not just Ercol.
All they wanted was new foam. The covers really looked like new anyway!

The Stephen Walters Mill is something very special, please read about it.
Our customer lives in Sudbury and bought a piece of fabric from the mill. This abstract design looks so well on these two Ercol 478 cushions. It is a wool/cotton mix and is reversible. Our customer chose to have the lighter side of the fabric as the main one and the darker side for the piping. It looks brilliant, thanks for asking us to do the job for you.

Dispatching soon this Ercol Settee. The fabric is from Ross Fabrics, it's called Kilburn Plain Flint SR12912. Our customer chose this Ross fabric & it does look so good. They phoned up Ross and asked for several samples & decided on this one. The scatter cushions are made from her own Bute fabric. A great combination!
Church Kneelers with hanging D ring

Dispatching today a number of church kneelers in our fantastic Queen's Blue fabric.
Each one of these kneelers is fitted with a "D" ring for hanging on the back of the pew in front.
The church is in Milnethorpe in the English Lake Disdrict.
Of course the fabric is used for lots of Ercol cushions and was first used at the Queen's Hall Edinburgh, where we did a complete refit of their listed building pews a few years ago.
Complicated Cushions
We very recently delivered these church pew cushions.
Several of the pews nearest the front of the church were angled. The customer had sent us paper patterns for these angles. It's always concerning tht we get these right! The customer had in fact done a brilliant job, so consequently all was correct!

Our fantastic light grey herringbone fabric with plain piping, looking good on an Ercol 835 cushion going out today. Some people like no piping at all, as on previous item, the wine footstool cushion. While some prefer contrast piping as on the item before the footstool, the 766 in our mid grey herringbone with lime piping.

The Ercol 609 is a rare chair. Our customer tells us it was made for only 2 years.
Above we photographed the 609 next to our 203. The 609 has a higher & smaller seat, & a higher back.
While we had the frame we also made a pattern for the higher back cushion. We're now fully equipped for any customer who is lucky enough to have a 609 frame.

Church of St Peter, at St Pierre Golf Club, Chepstow.

A pretty unique chapel is St Peter's.
It is in the grounds of St Pierre Golf Club in Chepstow. It is right next to a stately home which has been converted to a luxury hotel.
St Pierre is a thriving golf club.
The chapel is beautiful. They chose one of our many lovely red fabrics. All looks well.

This delightful old church is almost hidden in a rural setting in beautiful Oxfordshire. It is well worth a visit to see of course the lovely church but in addition the quaint countryside in which it is set.
The church group chose our Ross Fabrics Pimlico Jade, a bright choice that will go well with wedding photographs!
The list of clergy in the selection of pictures shows just how old is the church.
We are grateful to the British Listed Buildings website for this main picture of the church. Better than anything of which our driver is capable.

Eire order for 2 Ercol daybeds
We were in for a massive surprise when we sent this delightful Irish customer her 2 sets of Ercol Daybed cushions.
The order was all ready to go, to be packed by us & dispatched by our usual DPD couriers. They told us that in order to send abroad we must have a Commodity Code number, due to Brexit regulations. We struggled to get the proper code but did eventually manage it. We had charged the customer a pre Brexit deliver charge. When we got the invoice from DPD the cost to us was £170! We hoped to get some back from the customer only to be told that she'd been landed with a huge tax bill at her end!
If we could be convinced that all of this money is going to our NHS, well we might consider sending more into Europe. Untill then we won't sadly be dealing with any more European customers!
So sad, we had quite a few happy customers in France & Germany this last year.

Looks good on our painted frame. The seat cushion on the 477 is the same, just with a lower back.
A lot of our customers prefer this model without a back cushion, & have a scatter cushion instead. Then we make the seat cushion longer so that it reaches the spindles at the back.

The sun shone brightly on this mid November day. We'll try harder to bring cheer!

We were all taken by surprise this afternoon in mid -November.
We remembered the sun from ages ago & then lo & behold, from behind the clouds, out it came.
We put out our Ercol folding table and pulled out the best Ercol set of chairs, put on the Porter and Stone Balmoral Dove Grey cushions and covers and you know what, we had a picnic!
We were ballooned, sorry, bubbled, and we squeaked as we drank our Yorkshire tea and ate our home- made parched peas. All socially distanced of course. Some of us are accomplished at throwing the peas in the air & catching them in our wide opened mouths.
Passers by thought we are crazy………………… To be honest it was less a picnic, more a parched pea party.

Queen's Hall Edinburgh Refurbisment

We were delighted when the Queen's Hall asked us to quote for replacement cushions in their 200 year old building. The old curved pews are protected items of historical interest.
There are 50 different cushions, not any two the same, & each needing a separate pattern. Some were as small as approx 2.5 metres in length, the ones at the back as long as at least 5 metres.
We used Vitafoam CM50 foam and our all wool Pillar Blue. All went well!
Our driver & driver's mate also made the patterns!

This Scion Neo Candy Pop fabric is right on trend. Our Izzy says that it's lovely to sew. In November we had the same fabric, but different mix of colours.

A favourite Ercol 427 in a sophisticated Moon Deepdale Dove 100% wool fabric bought from the Abraham Moon Mill Shop in York.
We really like this fabric, and something different too is the fact that our customer didn't want the flap on the back. It exposes the webbing, but so what?

Another Cornwall customer asked for some of our fabric samples and chose this combination of tiny herringbone wool fabric in grey with chestnut piping for her daybed and 2 x 203 chairs.

Joynston Holland Rocker
We just made the cushions for a customer. It's not an Ercol but it is one made on the same Ercol principles. It's got steam bent timber & spindles & was originally made by a company called Joynston Holland which sadly went bust in 2009 leaving 70 people out of work.
It is possible that some of the workers went to Ercol, since the company was in High Wycombe as were Ercol up to 2002, before they moved down the road to Princess Risborough.

We delivered these new pew cushions and the church warden in Cheadle was very pleased.
They chose this fantastic blue woolen fabric and our best selling deluxe foam to give them comfy cushions for years to come.
One of the pictures shows a small sample back cushion for the congregation to try. They definately now have new comfort for the seats and hopefully they will return for the small back cushions.

It's Honeycomb Swirl from Camira Fabrics. I borrowed the description below from the Camira website.

This is a fabulous fabric from a good new customer.
We've used it before on an Ercol Daybed, this time on an Ercol 203 3 seater.
The original Ercol design for this model is to have 3 seat cushions and 3 backs. Trying to keep all 6 cushions looking tidy is almost a full time job! Best way to keep them looking good is to never sit on the settee!
Or why not do it our way? One mattress looking a bit like the Daybed & just two backs. This way they rarely go out of place.

Good Christmas Present.
Mr & Mrs Stevenson, good customers of ours from Inverness, strongly recommended it to us. We took their advice and we all read it cover to cover. It's a brilliant book, get it soon! It comes from Richard Dennis Publications in Somerset. They have a lovely shop there & I'm sure they will sell the book from the shop. Otherwise it will have to be Amazon.

We have made so many Ercol dining seat cushions and covers, I think our cutters and sewers can do them with their eyes shut tight!
Really though, we take great pride in hand cutting every Ercol cushion cover so that it will be exactly matching the next one.
Our foam however is cut by computer so that every single piece is the same. Here below is another set of Dining Seat cushions for a lady in Edinburgh, with a big table!
The fabric is 100% wool, the tartan pattern will be a memory for the family who are emigrating to Canada.

Mrs Hunt ordered these Ercol Dining Seats in Green. (one of our current in stock fabrics, I think we have about 10 different greens available). Ercol Diners are available in two sizes. This size is bigger than our chair!

Sassanach company present peace offering to Coruisk Memorial Hut
Hi Keri,
That's payment made! The mattresses have now been fitted, tested and approved - a huge improvement over the old bunks.
Can you point me towards some fire safety data please since I now need to update our Risk Assessment for the hut.
I've attached a couple of photos, one looking out from Elgol jetty in the direction of the hut (it really is out there, just right of centre hiding behind an outcrop) and one of the old -v- new bunks.

We recently delivered to this small church in a tiny village, Llanegryn, in Gwynedd, North Wales.
The current population of the village is only 400. Our driver took this picture of the church and the village
war memorial. We thought it fitting as a tribute to all who lost their lives in the Great War that we should
put the picture here at this poignant time. From such a small village there was a huge loss of life. Carved in the stone is,
"In loving memory of the boys from this village who lost their lives in the Great War". There were indeed
14 poor young men who died.

We sold a made to measure floor cushion, but big!
For a while we've made scatters etc., to customer's sizes, but this is the biggest we've ever done. It's for a lady in Ilkley, seen below next to one of our massive
36 x 36 inch floor cushions, it just dwarfs it! We can of course make any size.............try us.
It makes for a fantastic Floor Cushion size 50 inches x 37 inches. The fabric can seen on our just floor cushion website.

Watford Colosseum rang last week to order 50 Booster Cushions. We sent them a sample cushion and now less than 7 days later these 50 cushions are on their way. (23rd November). These cushions measure 36x36cm x 3inches thick.

Bongo Van Mattress
We just supplied a customer with a luxury top mattress for her Bongo Van. The Mazda Bongo Van is a highly versatile camper van. Inside the raised roof is where you find the luxury mattress. It is cleverly made to allow entrance through a trap door. The foam door is hinged to the main part of the mattress. Pictures below.

Spring 2010
We delivered a van full of scatter cushions of two different sizes to Pasha Restaurant in Kensington. We think that one of the dining rooms is going to be tradtional floor seating.We were honoured with such a prestigious restaurant choosing cushions from us.
